Hear From a Boondockers Welcome Host [June 2024 Fireside Chat]

We recently held a fireside chat where we got the chance to speak with Boondockers Welcome Host “Duane Cyrus” of “Frosty’s Acres” about his experience as a Host and why he continues to Host. Here’s a quick recap of the conversation, but you can also watch the live session below.

Duane is an RVer himself. He has a Winnebago Solis, which serves as his home away from home during his travels. He also has extensive experience working in the RV industry and currently serves as a dealer training manager for Winnebago.

During the chat, Duane expressed his enthusiasm for Boondockers Welcome, emphasizing how it has enriched his RVing experience. Boondockers Welcome has allowed him to connect with travelers from all over the world right from his driveway, helping him build stronger connections with RVers than he typically could while on the road.

One of the benefits of being a Boondockers Welcome Host is the flexibility and minimal time commitment involved, according to Duane. “Once you have the app set up… it’s just a matter of communicating with a guest who’s requested to stay,” he explained. Duane has never had any trouble blocking off his calendar when needed, approving a stay, or communicating with guests.

Duane also spoke about the community spirit that Boondockers Welcome fosters. He fondly recalled his first guest from England and the immediate connection they shared. “It’s not just US-based people; we’ve been able to meet people from abroad and develop friendships and just kinda share the RV lifestyle,” he noted.
