Campendium Review
Campendium is available as a mobile app on iOS devices and as a website. You can find public and private campgrounds as well as RV parks and boondocking locations on the platform.
About Campendium
Campendium was started by a group of full-time Airestreamers as a solution to bring together all of the various information on the internet into one resource. The app also contains reviews and photos by other RVers so it is truly an RV community effort. The app not only contains over 20,000 RV campgrounds and boondocking locations it also has camping gear guides, a blog, camping guides, and even a shop full of camping gear complete with reviews and links to purchase the gear.
Using the app
The search function on the app is quite extensive. You can search by location name or even search for sites near you. Once you’ve started your search you can then sort the results by distance, highest rated, or most reviews. Additionally, you can filter by category which includes public (BLM, National Parks, etc.), private, parking (stores or public parking that allows overnight camping), and even dump stations. You can also filter by price, the type of hookups available, rig size allowed, elevation, policies (no pets, adults-only, etc.), and facilities (pool, playground, etc.).
Once you’ve found a camping site you like, you can see the price, reviews, and photos from fellow RVers, the link to the website where you can book your site (if there is one), GPS coordinates, amenities, and links to any blog posts about the site. The best information you’ll find on the site’s page is the reported cell service for the location. This will tell you the level of service for the site for various carriers. This is gold for all those digital nomads out there.
Campendium is completely free to use but you can purchase a subscription. A subscription costs $20/year and offers you an ad-free experience on the app, the ability to filter your search by elevation and cell service, see favorites in your search, and search for trails near you. It seems like a small fee to pay for those added features, plus, subscriptions support ongoing maintenance and improvements to Campendium.
